The good news is that they are fantastic. Everything before that tended to be small, simple and was over fast. I think I got the first one on Golem City several hours after I first arrived in Prague. The problem is that they don't really allow the gameplay to shine, that only happens in the main missions, which end up feeling like secondary missions on account of how few of them there are. The side quests generally are about going to a place, looking around, going to another place, repeat, with a more action oriented part at the end. Together with simply roaming around Prague, they make for 70%, maybe as much 80% of the game. There were entire sidequests that I feel I only discovered because I played the game like that.Īnd the sidequests are another problem, although not in themselves. the things you normally would be doing in a proper Deus Ex level in other words, and you're constantly rewarded for this approach. They are just places for you to systematically loot, find secret passages, hack computers, get exp, get into ducts. Take an apartment block for example, which there are a few of them. And the reason is its design: Prague is designed like one huge Deux Ex level instead of a real place where people live. Prague has a strong first impression thanks to its visuals, but as I explored it I realized it was one of the worst hubs I've seen in a game. The entire first missions feels off.īut it's a short one, and eventually you get to Prague which is technically where the game really starts. It doesn't help that the tutorials were unclear, trying to teach the player 5 things at a time and teaching none. Not only because you have many augs from the start, but because of the story and how its introduced to you (and I played Human Revolution by the way). It feels like you're loading someone else's midgame save file. The problems begin with the opening, which is very weak. The end result is an average game, but the last impression with the DLCs chapters was a very positive one. Unfortunately I found it to be a very uneven game, with some small parts that are fantastic and bigger parts that are boring. So I decided it was finally time to give Mankind Divided a chance. I recently played Thief 1 and 2 for the first time and they are fantastic games that made me want to play more stealth/immersive sim games.
